Little Girl's Tutu Table:
First and foremost, I want to apologize for the lack of pictures in this DIY post. I promise I will do better next time, but this table was just WAY too cute to not put a tutorial up.
Supplies:
- A table (you could do this to virtually any table, but the one I used was from Ikea and was about 2.5 feet tall and had a round top about 20 inches across (totally guessing on those measurements, but you get the idea I hope).
- Tulle (any color-I used pink). You will need a lot of tulle, by a lot I mean I ordered 40 yards from Ebay (much less expensive than at the fabric store) and used the majority of it. You could also use more than one color.
- Scissors
- Staple gun and staples
- Ribbon of choice (I used two kinds, one for around the edge of the table and another for the bow on the front)
- Acrylic paint
- Stencil of choice
- Paint brushes
Start by cutting lengths of tulle twice as long as from the bottom of the table to approximately 2 to 3 inches off the floor. What you want is the tulle to be that length off the floor once it is folded in half and held up against the underside of the table.
What you want is to fold each length, twist at the fold a few times, hold against the underside of the table (easiest to flip the table upside down), and staple. Make sure you are as close to the edge of the table as possible. Continue this all the way around the table.
Flip the table right side up. You can trim your tulle to whatever length you want. I decided I liked it at different lengths and staggered throughout the table, making some pieces in the back longer and ones on the outside a little shorter. Just play around until you get it how you like it. Just remember, you can't add length, so don't go too short right away.

I chose a ribbon for the edge that had a satin "frill" and you could separate (there were essentially two ribbons on top of each other). This way I could slightly separate the two ribbons and staple the back one to the edge of the table, allowing the front ribbon to cover the staple. If you can't find a ribbon like this (I found mine at JoAnn fabrics..their website here.) you can always hot glue the ribbon to the table.
Finally, I took a separate color ribbon (black, because it matched the other ribbon I used in her room), tied a large bow, and stapled that on what I wanted to be the front of the table.
Last, I wanted to make the top of the table more exciting. I decided to buy a stencil in a cute pattern and paint the top. This part was super easy. Choose your stencil and have yourself a little painting party. You could add a name which would also be super cute. This is your table, do it how you want!
Voila! You're done! I am so in love with this table. It looks perfect in our baby's room, super girly and functional. Love it! I am thinking about adding a glaze or finish on the top to protect the paint. I think that would be the finishing touch.
